Another Mackie Awards event has come and gone and three deserving recipients took the stage to receive their awards. I believe it was a full house at the Varley Art Gallery in Unionville today. We had an amazing organizing committee who slogged their way through thick and thin to make this event a success. Songstress, June Garber emceed the event, adding glamour and humour when needed. Miranda thank you for feeding Nicky with chicken wings. Celeste, your leadership is thorough, gracious and necessary. Thanks also to Joan, Ed, Joanne, Amanda who worked tirelessly throughout the planning and the event. When the mayor was a no-show, deputy mayor Jack Heath took over with a humourous and informative speech honouring the Markham Theatre’s 25th Anniversary. Judi McIntyre kept the ship afloat as always – not skipping a beat. I enjoyed chatting with Bruce and Bob and everyone else. Thanks especially to Robyn, Rhiana and Nicky for your great help and support.
Many thanks also to Doug and Betsy for bidding and purchasing two paintings that I donated to the Mackie Awards Silent Auction. I hope you enjoy the paintings as they were both on my favourites list. Intrusion and Fire & Ice were both parts of exploration series. May they enlighten to environment every day.

The Silent Auction was a pleasure to work on and exciting to see all the bids for the great items. I have see the results and am thrilled it was so successful. It was a hectic day (for us) but I know the people who participated were gratified and enjoyed themselves.Your paintings were a big hit!
